It was late 2022, that I first took the rather big RZ67 outdoor. I was not hoping much from it, because my earlier play-around with it indoor did not render much amazement. Oh boy, was I wrong.
Medium format really helps separate the foreground from the background, without overdoing the blur. While giving enough depth of field, it still retains great separation.

On landscape shots, the sense of depth is so great. I just have to get used to the 6×7 aspect ratio to master the composition. Among the two photos below, taken at the same spot, I like the composition of the first one, but posting the second one just to point out the great depth of field – note that nearly everything in the shot was in focus, including the road at the bottom.

And still in awe of the separation.

While the 120 camera is huge, each roll of the film takes only 10 shots at 6×7. It makes each shutter release much precious, and I actually like it. I have been struggling to finish the 36 frame 135 rolls within each month. And you see, I showed 8 out of the 10 shots of the roll, meaning I really tried to frame each one and thought carefully about them before taking them. Yes, I did miss some shots, but it’s just part of the trade.
